There were multiple varieties of the 1934 Washington Silver Quarter. Three of them deal with different styles of the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" on the obverse of the coin. The Light Motto variety features very blurry and indistinct lettering. The Medium Motto has much clearer lettering but the letters themselves are thinner than the Heavy Motto variety. The middle of the "W" in "WE" is also aligned lower than the top of the sides of the "W". The Heavy Motto is also struck strongly and clearly The 1934-P Washington Quarter had a mintage of just 31,912,052 and was minted at the Philadelphia mint. The composition of these Silver Washington Quarter coins is 90% silver and 10% copper. The silver coins were produced from 1932 - 1964. Each quarter contains .1808 ounces of silver. Unlike the case in 1932, when a tad more than 6 million Washington quarters were minted across all three then-operating United States Mint locations (Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco), tens of millions were struck in 1934.
